I’m so cheap and water is so precious that I keep a gallon milk jug at my kitchen and bathroom sinks. I collect the water as I wait for it to get hot and use it to water my plants. This saves about a gallon of water a day.

For a little greenhouse, use a clear plastic box that mixed greens were in (approximately 5 x 7 x 11) Place 2 inches soil in box, then seeds, cover lightly with more soil. Moisten old Observer newspaper (cut to size) and place over last layer of soil, put cover on plastic container. Seeds will sprout quickly.
I save seeds from vegetables and sprouting potatoes that I have harvested to plant in my garden for the next year. I grow zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelons and cantaloupe this way.
