College representative visits: The following colleges and universities will be visiting Ardrey Kell's Career Center. Interested juniors and seniors must come to Student Services to receive a pass no later than first block on the day of the visit. December visits: Peace College, 12:45-1:15 p.m. Thursday; Meredith College, 8:15-8:45 a.m. Dec. 14; UNC Charlotte, 8:15-8:45 a.m. Dec. 15.
Hunger drive: Ardrey Kell brought home the win for the Student Hunger Drive on Nov. 10, beating schools including Providence, South Meck, Myers Park and many others, including Charlotte Catholic, which placed second. Ardrey Kell raised 15,300 pounds - 6.89 pounds per student. A check was written for $2,500 to Ardrey Kell for the win. The Executive Board would like to thank all the students, faculty and parents who contributed food toward the drive. This was the first year the Student Hunger Drive took place in Charlotte and it's a great accomplishment for Ardrey Kell.

Join the Boosters Club: The Boosters Club assists the school in purchasing athletic equipment that benefits every student at CCDS. Money is raised mainly through membership fees, concession sales, ticket sales, merchandise sales, and the annual golf tournament. Boosters members at all levels receive passes for their immediate family members, which allow free admittance to all regular-season home football and basketball contests. Membership is available at various levels: Captains Club, $250 - includes preferred parking at home football games and game admittance passes for all family members including grandparents; Super Boosters, $150 - includes games passes for all family members including grandparents; Buccaneer Booster, $75 - includes game passes for immediate family members only; Little Bucs, $50 - a membership level for families whose children are in lower school or younger - if you have children at CCDS in middle or upper school, your family is not eligible for this membership level. Includes game passes for immediate family members; Bucs for Life, free - available for families whose youngest child has graduated from CCDS. Bucs for Life receive a membership card entitling them to a lifetime of free admission to all home football and basketball games. N.C. Honors Chorus: Three students were selected to sing in the N.C. Honors Chorus in Winston-Salem on Nov. 9-10. Students David Conlin, Allie Blum and Mahari Conston were among the students selected from the more than 1,100 students who auditioned across the state. David sang in the Middle School Honors Chorus while Allie Blum and Mahari Conston sang in the High School Honors Chorus. Each chorus consisted of 176 singers.
Financial aid workshop: Financial aid workshop will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 6 in the Chorus Room, Room 301. The presenter is from College Foundation in Raleigh. She will answer questions about the financial aid form (FAFSA) and also talk about different types of loans. The workshop is free as are the financial aid application and processing. Parents and students are welcome.
