Providence Day's Tiffany Mitchell has committed to play college basketball at South Carolina.
The 5-foot-10 junior guard is one of the top recruits in the country and the leading scorer for the Chargers.
She chose the Gamecocks over Florida, Auburn, Kentucky and Georgia Tech.
Mitchell averages 18.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 3.9 assists and scored 30 points in last year's state championship game.
Falcons move up
With a win over formerly top-ranked Oak Hill Academy (Va.), United Faith Christian Academy has moved up in the Powerade Fab 50 ESPN Rise Boys Basketball rankings, from No. 32 to No. 30.
The Falcons are 18-5 and 2-0 in the Southern Piedmont Athletic Association (through Jan. 27).
