Have you ever pondered just how your local recreation center could play a role in furthering the understanding between the many diverse cultures that exist in our community today? Of course there are the usual forays into sports/athletics, as well as festivals/events, and the now exploding area of health and fitness. Well now Mallard Creek is please to offer two very distinctive and enriching opportunities aimed at helping bridge the cultural divide. The first seeks to capitalize on the latest fitness sensation sweeping the nation – Zumba; with its reliance on the hard driving fusion of Latin and International music, Zumba creates a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system that incorporates fun as one of its core objectives. If you are truly looking for a fitness alternative that is as fun as it is challenging then this is the class for you. Long gone will be the feeling of anxiety that many have at the mere thought of an ordinary aerobics class, or the sheer terror of the thought of forty-five minutes on torture device such as the elliptical, stair-stepper, or treadmill. Zumba in to a workout but a party, so bring a friend, meet new friends, and dance away the pounds. Classes will be offered every Wednesday from 5:00 to 5:45 at an incredible cost of $3.00 for non-members and $1.00 for members of the Mallard Creek fitness center. The other opportunity is Spanish for toddlers. Why wait to give your toddler a jump on mastering Spanish as a second language. Over the course of five weeks your child can learn to count, basic colors, shapes, and body parts through interactive, creative and physical activities. Classes will meet on Mondays from 11:00 am to 11:45. For more information on either of these two you can contact Ms. Erica Espinoza at 704-548-8234 ext. 235.
