Each month, Snug Harbor has an artist in residence. The March artist is David Childers, one of North Carolina’s most prolific songwriters. Childers was the front man for The Modern San Juans and currently leads The Overmountain Men. The Avett Brothers cover his songs. He will be joined by the band Appalucia. Shows are for 18 and older.
‘Lego Movie’ building event

Kids ages 4 and older can build a scene from “The Lego Movie.” It’s free but space is limited, so call the store first. Barnes & Noble stores are at The Arboretum, Birkdale Village, Morrison Place and Carolina Place.
Junior League’s Go Kids Go!

This free fitness event is offered for kids ages 4-14 and their families for four Saturdays; this is the second week. Each event will include physical activity, interactive learning sessions and giveaways for the kids. You’ll need to register in person between 9 and 9:30 a.m.
Go fishing with Dr. Seuss

Reedy Creek Nature Center celebrates the 100th birthday of Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, with a free event for kids ages 4-8. Kids will hear the Dr. Seuss’ story “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” and learn about the fish in the nature preserve’s lakes and ponds. Kids will also learn how to cast with a fun fishing game. Parent participation is needed for the casting game. Call to register.
