Former N.C. State standout Carlos Rodon – the third overall pick by the Chicago White Sox in this year’s Major League Baseball draft – will make his Class AAA debut with the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday.
Rodon, a native of Holly Springs, is expected to start for the Knights on Tuesday against the Gwinnett Braves.
Rodon, 21, posted a 0-0 record with a 1.86 ERA over 92/3 innings in four games for Winston-Salem (Class A Advanced), including two starts. The left-hander had 15 strikeouts and five walks for the Dash
Rodon made his professional debut on July 22 for the Arizona League White Sox.
Knights top Bulls
Jared Mitchell’s ninth-inning, two-run home run off Josh Lueke led the Charlotte Knights to a 6-5 win over the Durham Bulls. Charlotte scored three runs in the ninth inning and snapped a four-game losing streak.
The home run by Mitchell – his seventh of the season with Charlotte – gave way to Charlotte closer Taylor Thompson, who came on in the bottom of the ninth inning for the save.
Hickory 6, Delmarva 2: The Crawdads pounded out 15 hits, including two home runs, en route to snapping their six-game losing streak with the home win.
