Sara White, widow of NFL great Reggie White, with daughter Jecolia White and son Jeremy White, talk about the upcoming online auction sale of the family's Cornelius home built by Reggie White. $50,000 of the proceeds will be donated to the Reggie White Dream Sleep educational fund via the non-profit Urban Hope. Sara White is the widow of NFL Hall of Famer Reggie White, who died in Cornelius in 2004 at the age of 43. Sleep apnea was a contributing factor in his death, and for years, Sara has worked hard to raise awareness of the disorder.
Their parents raised 10 children on meager sharecroppers' wages. Now the family has bought and is refurbishing the home across Pea Ridge Highway in Jonesville, S.C., from where they grew up. They want it to be a place where they can rest.
More than 1,000 volunteers at the Charlotte send-off for the shoe boxes. This year, the program – sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, a Boone-based Christian charity headed by Graham – is expected to get shoe boxes to 12 million children around the world. About 2.6 million of those boxes will go through the Charlotte processing center.
Thanksgiving is over but Charlotte Douglas International Airport expects its busiest day of the holiday week is still ahead. Sunday will see more than 31,000 travelers at the airport for departing flights, another 100,000 passengers on connecting flights and many more who call Charlotte home, returning from holiday travel. Monday will be a heavy-traffic day, too.
