If you expect libraries to be hushed and predictable, prepare for the unexpected. In February and March, visitors to Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s 20 branches could be surprised at any moment by an outbreak of music or dance.

The Arts & Science Council, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation have partnered to present Library Acts of Culture, which will bring unannounced cultural performances to every county library, providing community access to the arts outside their normal venues. Jazz musicians dropped by Tuesday at the West Boulevard branch.
