Life has been interesting in recent weeks. Like most people, I have been weighed down by stresses driven by the economy and have been living my life in a weird, foggy manner that has brought me unhappiness and made me feel discouraged and unsure of myself. This, combined with being a newlywed and fairly new graduate, was weighing on my usual level of optimism. Andrew and I had numerous discussions, and we concluded that now was a good time to see what opportunities were available outside my current job.
I began networking, using my contacts from a previous position in recruiting. Oftentimes, finding a new job really is about “who you know,” and after a ferocious search, I recently accepted an opportunity with an even more fabulous company.
If you are unhappy with a particular aspect of your life, I hope you find this encouraging and allow it to inspire you to make changes in your own situation. Stay positive, no matter how hard it may seem, and strive for happiness. As Winston Churchill said: “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
