Laura Furr & Heath Huie
I’ve known Heath and his family my whole life. We all grew up in the same church together and also attended youth group. When we first went out, I was 15 and Heath was 19 – a little risqué! He had to get permission from my parents to take me out on a date. We went out a few months, then went our separate ways. Then, in 2008, we started seeing each other again and have been together ever since. It was a Monday night and I had just gotten off of work. I went straight to Heath’s house to get ready because we were going out to dinner with his whole family for his grandma’s birthday. He came into the house and knew he was going to propose that night. Heath was getting ready across the house and we were yelling back and forth. I was annoyed and mad because I didn’t have any nice clothes to wear to the dinner at his house, only the scrubs I wore to work. He yelled to me from the back of the house that he had found something for me to wear. When I walked into the room, Heath was down on one knee and said, “Will you make me the happiest man in the world?” My mouth dropped and I just stood there for a minute. Once I realized that this was real, I said, “YES!” We both sat there talking and I was crying, of course. It was a moment we both will never forget!
Laura and Heath were married on Nov. 6, 2010.
