As told by Nicole and Jeff

Dec. 23, 2009

Jeff prepared a romantic candlelight meal consisting of angel hair pasta with shrimp, chili peppers and tomatoes with white wine. Unbeknownst to Nicole, this was only a pre-proposal set-up. Prior to retiring for the evening, Jeff began his proposal preparations. Every evening, Nicole routinely places her jewelry – watch, bracelet, ring, etc. – in the same spot, in the middle of the dual vanity sinks on the counter. As Jeff was preparing for bed, he replaced Nicole’s everyday ring with the engagement ring, centered around her watch – only for Nicole to wake up to the greatest Christmas gift a girl could ever ask for. An exciting Christmas Eve awaited. While Nicole slept like a baby, Jeff didn’t sleep a wink, nervous for what was to come. Jeff nervously crawled out of bed to double-check his props he strategically placed the night before. Let the waiting game begin. Nicole woke, excited as everyone usually is on Christmas Eve, and began preparing for the day. Pacing nervously back and forth from the bedroom to the bathroom, Jeff was anxiously waiting for Nicole to discover what she had been waiting for from day one: an engagement ring. As Nicole began to brush her teeth and decorate herself with her everyday jewelry, Jeff’s heart began to beat faster than it’s ever beaten before. Nicole reached for her watch and put it on. She then reached for her everyday ring and discovered that her usual ring wasn’t there. She turned to Jeff and said, “Is this what I think it is?” “I don’t know. What does it look like?” Jeff replied. Once Nicole realized what it was, she turned to Jeff to find him on bended knee. “Nicole Victoria Lawson, will you marry me?” “YES!”

Nicole and Jeff will be married on March 12, 2011.
