Erin and Andy almost didn’t date at all. When they set their first date, Erin’s nerves got the better of her and she stood Andy up. Luckily for everyone involved, they ran into each other again six months later and Erin admitted that she “owed him a dinner.” The future Mr. and Mrs. Davis started dating, and in 2009 Andy proposed on a New Year’s cruise with Erin’s family. While fate finally brought the two together, fate also changed the plans they had originally made for the wedding. They planned to get married on Oct. 2, 2010. However, Andy’s father had colon cancer and had recently made plans to go under hospice care. The couple knew that time was precious, and they didn’t want Andy’s “true best man” to miss the special day. They decided to put together a small, private ceremony for immediate family and got married on March 13, 2010. “We planned it in a week and a half,” Erin says. “It was just the bare minimum, with candles in the front of the church. I found a dress that fit like a glove, and our immediate family came into town. It was more sentimental than the actual celebration day in October.” Andy’s father passed away on Sept. 20, and the couple was so grateful he had been able to see their wedding.Still wanting to involve other relatives and friends, however, Erin and Andy also planned a celebration day, a “Blessing of the Vows,” on the original wedding date. Choosing a lacey dress from Poffie Girls was the first step in carrying out the romantic feel Erin envisioned for the event. The couple celebrated with friends and family at Baker Buffalo Creek Vineyard in the rolling hills of Cleveland County, and Image Gallery added its unique style to the photographs of the day. With all of it said and done, both of their “wedding days” were memorable for different reasons. As Andy puts it, “Knowing I was marrying a woman who loves me and my family so much to put that first before the fairytale wedding that was my dream wedding.”
