When Chaz Minter won the Carolina Bridal Showcase honeymoon to Hawaii, he decided that the stage would be a perfect place to propose to then-girlfriend Jessica Best. Chaz explains, ”I had hoped to propose while visiting family for Christmas, but the ring was delayed. I thought, why not propose in a big way? I had the ring in my pocket when I went to accept the groomsmen dance contest prize. When I got to the stage, I asked Jessica to join me.” Jessica was overwhelmed with joy and completely surprised. “I got a perfect honeymoon and the man of my dreams all in one day!” Jessica and Chaz planned out their wedding together with a little help—Jessica’s seven-year-old daughter, Jayla, was the flower girl. After Chaz and Jessica exchanged rings, Chaz gave Jayla a pendant to symbolize the creation of their new family. After the wedding, Jessica comments, “Putting Jayla to bed together at night, all of us being silly—our marriage is everything it should be and more.” Chaz adds, “We complement each other. We’re always working to make our relationship better even though our personalities are very different. Jessica’s my teammate. She’s my soul mate.”
