As told by Amanda:
I don’t know how long Jonathan had the ring, but he was waiting for the right time, waiting for it to snow in Boone. He knows I love nothing more than snow and Boone except for him, of course! It was a ridiculously warm winter last year and finally it looked like Boone was going to get a good snow on Sunday, February 19. Jonathan didn’t even have to ask; as soon as I checked the weather the night before, I asked him if he wanted to go to see the snow, ride around, and take some pictures. So we headed up there Sunday morning and drove around on the parkway, through campus, had lunch, nothing out of the ordinary. The snow seemed to be tapering off a bit, but right before we had to leave it really started coming down again. Jonathan mentioned we should go on the parkway again to see if I could get anymore pictures and we stopped at the Raven’s Rock overlook. I was snapping away, not paying attention to anything going on behind me. When I turned around to head back to the car, there was Jonathan on one knee in the snow! I think my first words were, “Oh my gosh!” then, “Yes!” then, “Wait, aren’t you going to ask?!” Poor thing, I don’t think I gave him a chance! Of course he asked and I said yes! And the snow just happened to follow us all the way home that night back to Kannapolis. It was the most perfect proposal this mountain girl at heart could ask for!
Amanda and Jonathan will be married October 19, 2013.
