Fore-ever and Always

Kyle tees up the perfect proposal after winning Krissy’s heart on the course.

After three years of dating and returning from a romantic trip to Charleston sans ring, Krissy began to wonder if her beau Kyle would ever pop the question. “I thought for sure he’d do it then,” she says. “I mean, we had been dating for three years!” Little did she know, Kyle had a more meaningful proposal in mind. A few weeks after the couple had returned from Charleston, Kyle took Krissy golfing at the same course they had played on three years prior for their first date. “I didn’t expect it at all,” says Krissy. “He asked me to get a golf ball for him out of his bag, and when I did, I saw a little jewelry box inside. I didn’t know if I was supposed to see it, so I quickly zipped that compartment back up. But Kyle told me to open the box. I did, and when I looked back at him, he was down on one knee.”

To incorporate the golf course romance into their wedding, Krissy and Kyle held both the ceremony and the reception at the Club at Longview and gave out personalized golf balls as favors for the guests. “Even beyond golf, the wedding was truly a celebration of our favorite things,” says Krissy. As a florist, Krissy arranged all of the flowers for the event, and her dress featured a large rosette. For Kyle, the couple had the DJ spin all of his favorite classic rock tunes. “Kyle’s dad passed away when he was 19, but his dad taught him how to play the guitar, so a lot of the songs that were played brought back those special memories,” says Krissy. The couple served an assortment of their favorite dishes, including a grown-up version of Kyle’s favorite, tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. “There were only 115 people there,” says Krissy. “Everyone knew us well and knew our story, so they understood every choice. It was perfect.”
