At Home in the Hamptons

After proposing on the Hamptons beach she grew up on, Ashley Webb and Luke Roberts started planning a wedding in Kansas City, already several states away from the bride’s parents in Fort Mill, S.C. However, a change in Luke's career meant a quick move from Kansas City to New York, where the couple re-planned their entire wedding in a month and a half. Luckily, they were able to find both a ceremony venue and a new home, all in one! "We moved into the parsonage right next to our church," says Ashley. Alongside it's key location, St. Thomas Episcopal Church offered the perfect space for their large bridal party, who circled around them during the ceremony. "We got to be in the middle of everyone we loved,” says Ashley. The bride and groom celebrated with an afternoon reception at Ashley's great aunt's house—a true family-style garden party. “I spent eight months scouring thrift, consignment, yard sales, estate sales, and antique shops for 150 place settings,” says the bride of her mismatched antique dishware. “I gave them away as gifts in mismatch sets to my bridesmaids and family following the wedding.” Another labor of love was the homemade vanilla extract given as favors. The guests mingled and danced, while also enjoying a full brunch provided by DG Catering. At 5 p.m., the couple exited under a shower of lavender and rice, one of the bride's favorite moments. Looking back on the day, Ashley and Luke are grateful for the serenity of an earlier wedding. Not only did the early start ease the couple's pre-wedding jitters, but the extra time allowed for a post-wedding session with Tirzah Photography. "We decided to take the bridal party pictures on the beach, which was about a mile away," she says. "The walk was refreshing and gave me time to think about what just happened." Since their wedding, the Roberts have moved into a new home and welcomed a baby to the family. Ashley, Luke, and their little one are now enjoying the heavenly Hampton life.
