Plan It Like a Pro

What does a bride choose when fashion and style are the foundations of her career?

When Caroline Hamlin, designer for private brands at Belk and wedding and wardrobe stylist, tied the knot to college sweetheart Ryan Byrnes, we had to get an inside look at her big day. What does a bride plan when fashion and style are the foundations of her career? We sat down with Caroline to talk vision and details.

How would you describe your interior design style? I typically gravitate to shades of white, neutrals, and black with accents of silver and mirrored elements. I love textures and prints to keep things interesting. Much like my personal style, I like mixing classic and more modern pieces. How did you merge your style with your new husband's when creating your home together? The good news was Ryan didn't have a lot of home décor items to merge! He is really great about letting me chose home décor, as long as I promise to give him a “man cave” in our first house together! For the wedding, how did you use your color palette and vendors to pull it all together? Our wedding colors were a pale blush pink, white, and silver. Our tables were covered with silver linens, mercury glass, candles, and varied short and tall arrangements with roses, hydrangeas, and peonies, my favorite. There was an eclectic mix on these elements on each table. We incorporated my Grandmother Caroline's silver candelabras on our long family table. Stacey with Willow Branch Flowers provided stunning arrangements. The Peninsula Club helped order some of our linens and our day of coordinator, Nicki Cloud, helped pull all the elements together and execute my vision. Kathy Allen created an incredible cake that incorporated a large, blush peony with silver glitter and handmade edible lace dusted with silver. I love all things Parisian and sweet treats, so we had a dessert bar from Amelie's bakery. We had cocktails that included a “Blushing Bride” and Ryan’s favorite beer from Michigan.
