“You could say music drew us together,” says Hannah Lim, recalling the blossoming of her relationship with Steven Jenkins. The couple, who met on campus at UNC Charlotte through mutual friends, came together when Hannah expressed interest in learning to play the guitar. Steven started teaching Hannah the basics, and sparks flew.
Fast-forward almost three years, and a strings version of Canon in D played softly as Hannah walked down the aisle to meet Steven at beautiful Oak Ridge Farm Bed and Breakfast in Mooresville, NC. On the big day, the couple knew it wouldn’t just be a uniting of families but a uniting of cultures. Hannah’s Korean heritage would now be intertwined with Steven’s Southern American roots. “Our cultures are different, but all the guests were there to bless and support our marriage,” says Hannah.
The day was filled with happy tears and handmade details—Hannah made sure to add personal touches from the handmade bridesmaids’ bouquets to the succulent plants as favors. The centerpieces, also arranged by Hannah, truly captured the rustic simplicity of the wedding. Each table was adorned with an eclectic collection of bottles filled with wheat stalks and stems of lavender.
Hannah still remembers Steven tearing up during their vows: “It was surprising and sweet,” she says. Surrounded by family, some who had traveled across the globe, Hannah and Steven could truly spend the day basking in the glow of their love and their newly shared life.
