Lip gloss is full of potential. It can be an instant pick-me-up or add a bit of glamour to your look. And, for Tallulah Cosmetics creator Amy Wheeler, it can be life-changing.
A longtime product junkie, Wheeler, 32, ditched her teaching career to pursue her passion in December 2006 and launched her Louisville, Ky.-based line. The first product, Glossary, ($16) is a mineral-infused lip-plumping gloss in seven shades.
Wheeler will be in Charlotte on Friday and Saturday as part of a fall beauty event at Jeffre Scott Apothecary in Myers Park and Piper Glen.
With names such as Mouth of the South, My Yacht or Yours and Blonde Ambition, the glosses capture the spirit of unconventional Southern diva Tallulah Bankhead (she was born in Alabama), whom Wheeler cites as one of her many inspirations.
Metallics are popular for lips, Wheeler says, and while it can be a little scary, shimmer and sparkle can be subtle, too.
“Mixing your own color is going to be big,” she says. “Gloss is awesome for that; all you need is a brush.”
