Beauty workshop helps girls, mentors find positive image
The 2008 Dove Real Beauty Workshop – a free, self-esteem-building event for girls ages 8-12, teens 13-16 and their adult mentors (mothers, relatives, friends) will be noon-3 p.m. Dec. 6 at The University of Phoenix (Room 105), 10925 David Taylor Drive. The workshop encourages girls, teens and women to embrace a positive image of themselves, both inside and out. Activities include yoga, snacks and take-home workbooks. Wear comfortable clothing. SouthPark mall will host area charities and nonprofit organizations at its fifth annual Simon Evening of Giving, 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday. The mall will be open exclusively to shoppers with tickets from participating charities. The event will feature store discounts, family entertainment, food, a silent auction and more. Participating organizations are selling tickets for $10, with $7 from each ticket benefiting the organization; the remaining $3 will benefit the Simon Youth Foundation – a nonprofit organization that fosters educational and career development for at-risk youth.
