Hawthorne’s New York Pizza, which got a flurry of national attention earlier this year when people reported that a particular pizza helped pregnant women go into labor, has given birth itself: To a new location in the Meridian Place development on Monroe Road.
The mixed-used development, on Monroe near Idlewild, has Hawthorne’s as an anchor tenant, the first restaurant to open in the new development. The eighth location for Hawthorne’s, it seats 220 people inside and 40 more on a patio. The patio also includes an outdoor bar that opens to an indoor bar with folding windows. There’s also a private dining room that can seat 50.
The Meridian Place location also will add some new items to the menu, including weekly specials that may become permanent.
In addition to the original, at Hawthorne Lane and 7th Street in the Elizabeth neighborhood, Hawthorne’s now has locations in Charlotte, Mint Hill, Huntersville and Harrisburg.
