2007 Herzog Zin Gris,
Lodi, Calif., $19.
When Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is celebrated next week, the meal is all about sweet symbolism. The wines don't have to be sweet, though, so a rose can be a good balance. Herzog's rose is made with certified Lodi grapes. It has plenty of structure and a little sweetness balanced with tartness and lingering acidity. Dip an apple slice in honey and hope for a better year to come.
