Sometimes you need an easy way to have a little fun. And the book “Amazing Food Hacks,” by Peggy Wang (Clarkson Potter, $19.99) has all the fun you’d expect: Wang is the founding editor of the compulsively clickable website Buzzfeed.
Flipping through the book’s many tricks, we spotted a two-fer: A tasty butter syrup that you can turn into a convincing butter beer, the Harry Potter-inspired quaff that’s just the thing for a Halloween party.
Go full on with effect by turning a hollowed-out pumpkin into a punch bowl, as we did here. And while the sweet drink is perfect for kids, you can add something (we’d suggest rum) to make it for the adult crowd, too.
