“A Heart-to-heart Chat”

The Woman’s Club of Rock Hill will host this “Tea and Topics” session 2-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Historic Armstrong-Mauldin House, at Aiken and College avenues, Rock Hill. Experts will provide information about steps women of all ages can take to prevent heart disease. Heart-healthy refreshments will be served and attendees will receive a Heart2Heart goody bag. Thursday

“The Impact of Health Care Reform on Special Populations”

This conference will be 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday at UNC Charlotte’s uptown campus, 320 E. Ninth St. Multiple sessions will examine how the Affordable Care Act will affect women, seniors, veterans and other groups. Susan DeVore, CEO of Premier Healthcare, will be the keynote speaker. Community forums

Mecklenburg County Health and Human Services and the Mecklenburg HIV/AIDS Coalition will host a series of community forums to provide information about and promote county services available to those with HIV and AIDS. “Lyme Disease: Living With Chronic Pain and Illness”

The monthly meeting of the Central N.C. Chapter of the National Capital Lyme and Tick-Born Disease Association will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Queen’s Grant High School, 10323 Idlewild Road, Matthews. Kent Tilley, psychotherapist with Presbyterian Psychological Services, will present the program, with discussion to follow. Anyone touched by Lyme disease is invited. Go Red for Women Total Makeover

Macy’s and the American Heart Association will host the Total Makeover passport event 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Macy’s SouthPark, 4400 Sharon Road. Stations throughout the store will have experts on how to make smart choices for heart health. Medic will present the newest recommendations for CPR; a certified nutritionist will discuss heart-healthy eating; blood pressure screenings will be available, as well as demonstrations of simple yoga stretches, among others. Zumbathon

The Filipino-American Community of the Carolinas will host a fundraising Zumbathon 2-5 p.m. Saturday at Zeal for Life Dance Studio, 11014 Monroe Road, Suite C, Matthews. Cost is $10 and proceeds will go to typhoon Haiyan victims and future projects. The event will also feature raffle prizes, food and drink. Details: www.facc-charlotte.com.
