On Tuesday, Novant Health announced a new shared services agreement with Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin.
Each organization will remain independent, retaining local ownership and management, but they will share best practices, information technology and purchasing power.
The agreement is the latest for Novant Health’s Shared Services division, launched in 2011. Others have been signed with Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, Cape Fear Valley Health in Fayetteville, Memorial Health in Savannah, Ga., Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, Ga., and University Health Care System in Augusta, Ga.
Located 40 miles west of Novant’s Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, Hugh Chatham is a private nonprofit hospital with 81 acute beds, 127 long-term-care beds, and 12 inpatient rehabilitation beds. It owns Yadkin Valley Home Health and Parkwood Place retirement community, and serves residents of Surry, Yadkin and Wilkes counties.
Novant, based in Winston-Salem, is a nonprofit system with 13 hospitals and about 350 medical clinics in the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia.
