Mental Health First Aid
Monarch will host a Mental Health First Aid program from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Stanly Community College Small Business Center, 143 N. Second St., Albemarle. This eight-hour course will teach participants how to properly respond in a crisis situation involving individuals with mental illness or substance use disorder. Brain Tumor Society race
The National Brain Tumor Society will host its inaugural race in Charlotte on Saturday at Freedom Park, 1900 East Blvd.. Registration begins at 7 a.m., programs and activities will last from 8 to noon. The 10k begins at 8:30, the 5k at 9, and the 5k walk will start immediately after the 5k runners. All participants must register. There is no registration fee for the walk; fees for the timed events are $35/$10 prior to online registration closing, $50/$35 after. Cancer support group meeting
Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer (SPOHNC) will have its first meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the community room of Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, 10030 Gilead Road, Huntersville.
