Run for hope and healing
The 2014 Run for Hope and Healing 5K will be Saturday starting at Earth Fare, 14021 Boren St., Huntersville. Registration opens at 7 a.m., the run/walk begins at 8 a.m. with the awards ceremony at 9:30 a.m. This event aims to raise awareness and funds for the services provided by Safe Alliance to the Lake Norman community. Death and Beyond
The Vajradhara Mahayana Buddhist Center will host this event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Room 102A of the Charlotte Convention Center, 501 S. College St. There’s a $25 recommended donation per attendee, $20 for seniors or students. Gen Kelsang Tilopa, resident teacher at the Buddhist center, will present this topic joyfully and discuss the benefits of creating inner peace to face death with a calm and peaceful mind. Festival on the Green
Turner House of Davidson College will host its first Festival on the Green from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the Village Green at South Main and Concord Road, Davidson. This fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will feature activities and crafts for kids, cornhole, raffles, live performances and more. Carrburritos, TCBY and Toast will also attend and each will donate a portion of their proceeds to the LLS. $15 to participate in activities. Details: bit.ly/QyOKdP.
