When you’re in need of a break and it’s beautiful mountain vistas you want, then make the trek up to Lake Lure. It’s a gorgeous town, a little over a 2-hour drive from Charlotte, tucked gently into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range and serves as an idyllic backdrop to a mountain getaway.
There are an abundance of lakeside outdoor activities, a beach to relax on, and an historic hotel to rest up for another beautiful day at Lake Lure. You can’t go wrong with booking this destination for your next escape.
Spend a day at the beach - it’s the most popular attraction. The clean, sandy beach area attracts many to its shores. Spread out a beach towel or set up chairs and an umbrella for the day. Many visitors pack a cooler and picnic basket, and limited food is available.
When it gets hot, take a dip into the refreshing cool waters of the mountain lake. Lifeguards are stationed around the lake’s perimeter to keep a watchful eye.
Surrounding the lake, there are about 70 parking spaces, so go early. A large covered shelter with individual picnic tables is available for use. Be aware that there is an admission fee to get onto the beach.
Inside a protected water balloon launcher, kids can fire water balloons onto other players, or better yet, onto a brother or sister. The water balloons break onto the protected booths and only water splashes down onto the kids. It’s a safe game for children and super fun! Balloons are available for a cost or you can bring your own.
Lakeside Water Park
Within the gated beach area, there is a water park with two water slides and splash area. Kids have to be a certain height to go down the slide. The splash area is for kids of all ages without any restrictions. There is not an additional charge to enjoy these fun water-soaking activities.
