The $130 million Great Wolf Lodge hotel and indoor water park opened in Concord this week, with local officials hoping it will provide a boost to tourism in the area.

The 475,000-square-foot complex is on Weddington Road near Lowe's Motor Speedway and Concord Mills mall. It has 402 suites in the hotel. The 80,000-square-foot water park includes four pools, 11 water slides and a treehouse water fort.

The water park is available only to hotel guests. Room rates range from $329 to $529 a night, although special grand opening rates start at $179 per night on certain dates from April 19-June 19. Staff reports
