Six schools will have different starting and ending times next year, according to the schedule announced by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
In addition, CMS set school bell times for the two high schools opening in August – William A. Hough, and Rocky River.
The schools with changed times are Collinswood Elementary, Dilworth Elementary, Hawk Ridge Elementary, Morehead Elementary, Morgan School, and Oaklawn Language Academy.
The Dilworth starting times were closely watched in that community, as Dilworth will be taking in students from some neighboring schools next year – as part of the pupil assignment changes made to address overcrowding at Eastover Elementary. Dilworth is a performing arts magnet school this year, with start and end times of 8:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.
The magnet program is being moved to First Ward Elementary next year, and Dilworth will become a neighborhood school.
Dilworth's times next year will be 7:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. First Ward Elementary will retain its times from this year – 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The changed times for next year:
Collinswood Elementary: 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. (from 9:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.).
Dilworth Elementary: 7:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. (from 8:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.).
Hawk Ridge Elementary: 7:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. (from 8:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.).
