The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library system will close all branches on Sundays this summer, from July 5 through Sept. 6. This change will affect the hours at Main Library and ImaginOn, the only two libraries that have been open on Sundays since reduced hours for Charlotte Mecklenburg Library were announced in March.
Visit the library's website for a detailed schedule of operating hours. Sunday hours at Main Library and ImaginOn will resume on September 13.
Other library scheduling changes for Fiscal Year 2010 resulting from budget cuts will be announced at a later date.
This move represents the second year in a row that the Public Library has closed on Sundays as a cost-saving measure in the face of budget cuts from Mecklenburg County. Many library services will continue to be available around-the-clock, including the library’s 24-hour book drops, online account access and catalog searching at www.plcmc.org, and the library’s automated telephone renewal line at 704.416.7363.
