Ah, it’s November … the holiday count-down is on, and it’s time to get in the spirit. So I want to tell you about a charming video I just watched with my family.
VeggieTales: Saint Nicholas – A Story of Joyful Giving offers the story behind the Christmas holiday. The video opens with Laura Carrot’s father in danger of losing his job. While the fear of a presentless Christmas is looming, Bob (the tomato) jumps in and begins to tell the story of St. Nicholas.
His tales had us travelling back to Greece in the third century. With Larry, by his side, Bob tell us about a young boy named Nicholas whose family is well off. But why do his parents spend so much time giving, he wonders? After their untimely death, he sets out to find happiness again.
Humor is intertwined throughout, as is music, including a super-fun, silly song – Donuts for Benny. The story, although a bit on the serious side, delivers through and through and the message is crystal clear. It will inspire kids of all ages to give at Christmastime, and anytime.
Never miss a local story.
