I just noticed, while queuing up my daughter's wind down show tonight, that Noggin On Demand claims it's "just like preschool on TV".
I guess I figured that preschool is learning to socialize with other people. Or maybe learning how to think. How on earth does watching TV accomplish that? Is this just a way to help parents feel better about plopping their toddler down in front of the idiot box?
This claim has really given me pause to think about even turning this television on for her at all anymore. If Spongebob (which, for the record my daughter does not watch but was being shown while the phrase "it's like preschool on TV" was uttered) passes for "preschool", it's no wonder the US is slumping in education.
