The second magnet-lottery application period begins Wednesday, March 13 and will run through 10:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3. Any family of a current or future-enrolled CMS student is eligible to participate. The second lottery is primarily an opportunity to fill magnet seats left vacant in the first lottery and an opportunity for families who were not eligible or did not participate in the first lottery.
Instruction letters on how to apply for the second lottery will be mailed in mid-March to families of students who were enrolled or future-enrolled in CMS since December 7. If a family participated in the first lottery and chooses to participate in the second lottery, then the second lottery results will replace the first lottery results. The first lottery results, including wait pool sizes, and a “Magnet Schools with Space” document will be available on the CMS website to inform and assist families with second lottery application selections.
Families participating in the second lottery will be notified of the results by letter in late May or early June.
