I recently came across a wonderful website that is a great FREE resource for folks living in the Charlotte area that are looking for local businesses.
The name of the site is Yelp.com.
Never miss a local story.
Yelp.com was founded in 2004 by two former PayPal employees in San Francisco for people to post reviews of local businesses based on their personal experiences. It has evolved, so now it is part social networking site, as well as a local search engine.
You can use the Yelp search engine to find recommended businesses, such as local dentists, hair stylists and mechanics, as well as information about pricing at these establishments.
It is a terrific reliable and free resource for people that are new to the area, as well as anyone looking for a particular type of business or fun things to do in the Charlotte area!
Yelp.com is great for finding local events, many of them free, as well as activities designated by specific neighborhoods in the Charlotte area.
There also is a social medium portion of the site, where you could talk with other "yelpers" to get specific recommendations or information regarding whatever it is you're looking for in Charlotte.
Whether it's restaurants, shopping, nightlife or beauty shops, you can find it at Yelp.com .
The Yelp website now covers communities in more than 40 states and is a valuable resource in other cities when you are you're traveling. Yelp.com draws in more than25 million people each month, ranking it in the top 100 U.S. websites, which tells you many people find it really helpful.
