Giving Tuesday: These Charlotte area charities need your time, donations

For 31 years, The Charlotte Observer has worked with charities in our region to determine their needs and then published those for our readers during the holiday season. We received more than 200 submissions from agencies in 10 counties this year. You can search all the agencies and match what you have to give with the agency’s list. For example, if you have a television to donate, you can find a charity nearby that might need one.

Catholic Charities has three food pantries across the Diocese of Charlotte, in Asheville, Charlotte and Winston-Salem. Each food pantry provides walk-in assistance on a first-come, first-served basis during normal operating hours. The pantries operate on a client-choice model, through the principle of providing food with dignity. Clients select food they would like from a list of items in stock. Every pantry relies heavily on the work of volunteers to stock and distribute groceries on a weekly basis.
