I guess it’s only natural that fans in Charlotte would wonder whether the HGTV home renovation show “Love It or List It” might come here for a stint.
After all, the crew has moved its home base from Toronto to the Raleigh-Durham area. How much trouble could it be to stop by and fix a few clunky floor plans?
Surely someone here would welcome the show’s designer, Hilary Farr, to come in and uncover costly problems hidden inside their walls and ceilings. (That’s the best part for viewers, other than the final makeover reveal.)
We’d probably have fun watching a couple shop for a new home in one or two Charlotte ’hoods with Farr’s co-host, real estate agent David Visentin.
Well, shut down those rumors of a visit, if you’ve heard any. The show is staying put in the Triangle for now, said executive producer Maria Armstrong of Big Coat Productions.
But Charlotte would not be out of the question if the show gets a second season in North Carolina, Armstrong said. The crew has traveled a few hours from its home base before to find interesting projects.
“We certainly would consider Charlotte if we were given the opportunity,” Armstrong said. “I love North Carolina.”
Mmm-hmm. You can find stories online where she’s made similar comments about other locations where fans were hopeful of seeing their cities in the spotlight.
I’m wondering which neighborhood might give Armstrong’s team a worthy renovation challenge? A historic district? Lake home? Suburban property?
If you know of a good shortcut from Durham, we might find out.
