You know you’re taking home organization a little too seriously when you contemplate using a label maker for the three-ring binders that hold your receipts and home appliance manuals. And yet, the horrendous hand-scrawled labels I’d stuck on ours were bugging me. So when I got the chance to test out the PT-D200 label maker by Brother, I thought, “Why not?”
The model has a full keyboard, different fonts and spits out the plastic label in seconds. I found it a breeze to use and I’m weird enough to admit that I like seeing the stuff I organized neatly labeled. If you’re of the same mind, I’d say go for it. Small-business people with lots of labeling will appreciate the tape color options and other bells and whistles. At $40, it feels like a luxury you can do without. But at $20 online, sold!
A warning: You’ll need six AA batteries, which are not included. And you only get a “sample” tape. So you’ll need to order more soon. Don’t pay full price for that, either. Roland Wilkerson
