The winner: I used to come home from grocery shopping with yet another can of tomato sauce because I thought I was out, but would forget the pinto beans because I thought I already had some. No longer a problem. Now, before I leave to shop I snap a photo of my pantry with my phone. I can zoom in to see labels and can sizes.

Nuke that lemon for more juice
If you need fresh juice from a lemon, lime or orange, you can almost double the amount if you microwave your fruit for a few seconds. Microwave on high for about 10 seconds. If the lemon, etc., has been refrigerated, you will most likely have to put it in for a few more seconds. This is especially helpful when the fruit is out of season and not so juicy. Turkey Day trick makes cooking easier
I am cooking for 20 people Thanksgiving Day and to save wear and tear (and more splatters!) on my prized cookbooks, I photocopy all the recipes I am going to use that day. It cuts down on clutter and gives me more workspace, and the copies don’t have to be propped open like a cookbook.
