Now you can make your window locks part of a home security system – and an energy conservation plan.

VeriLock wireless security sensors send messages to a Honeywell security system’s keypad to alert you when the windows are unlocked or open. The sensors are components of most Andersen E-Series windows and add about $100 to the cost.

Use the alerts to help control heating and cooling costs as well as security. A locked window can be more energy efficient than an unlocked one, which can allow air to escape, according to Andersen. www.eaglewindow.com/verilock.
