Ever since Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in 1908 and started a campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a recognized U.S. holiday, people (i.e. guys) have scrambled around trying to find the right last-minute gift. Well this year—you do know Mother’s Day is May 12, right?—don’t get caught having to make a mad dash to the store. Instead, make plans to get some beautiful flowers from a local florist. All these stores are independently owned and can help you pick something special that your mom deserves and will always remember.
