After years of selling their artisan breads at the Davidson Farmer’s Market, Sarah and Mark Hord are striving for something more permanent with Millstone Bake House and Provisions, which is scheduled to open this month. The couple is moving Millstone from their farm in Morganton to the former JJ Wade Agency building in downtown Davidson, where, in addition to gourmet breads baked in a stone-roasted oven, they’ll offer pastries, biscuit sandwiches, cookies, scones, muffins, cheeses, prepared meals, and olive oils. “During the farmer’s market we just fell in love with the Davidson area,” says Sarah Hord. “We’ve built a great clientele and feel like this is a special niche market and perfect for what we do.”
