Lowe's Pride Awards Gala

THE REASON: A benefit for the Charlotte International Cabinet hosted by "Pride" magazine. THE BUZZ: The gala, which recognizes outstanding accomplishments in the African-American community, honored three winners: Abong Fankam, who won the Pride Global Outreach award for her efforts helping children in Charlotte and her native Cameroon; Howard Gaines, winner of the Global Impact award for his work overseas including helping his church establish a medical clinic in Haiti; and Donavon Dicks, a senior at West Mecklenburg High School, winner of the Pride Global Youth award for his accomplishments including teaching basic English to children in China.
