These days two of Charlotte’s most upscale hotels offer more than just a swanky place to sleep—they’re also home to some of the city’s most creative cocktails. The Gallery Bar at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge recently unveiled its Liquid Arts program, which features fresh ingredients and house-made syrups, bitters, and sodas. New additions to the menu include The Explore, a spicy elixir made with vodka, basil, coriander, grapefruit and black pepper, and The Aroma, a sweet-smelling concoction of vodka, strawberry, rosemary, lime and sparking wine. The Lobby Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte kept the increasing popularity of herbal teas in mind in creating several new cocktails emphasizing clean and simple tastes. Favorites include the Saucy Earl, a playful creation featuring Earl Grey Tea, RumChata, and Myer’s Rum and the Lady Marmalade, a royally smooth mixture of Green Tea, Grey Goose Orange, and marmalade. www.gallery-restaurant.com, www.ritzcarlton.com/charlotte
