Catch a Ride

Cycling for a charitable cause

Charlotte photographer Michael C. Hernandez is the guy pushing the pedals behind The Good Ride, a local charitable event that’s using cycling to bring awareness—and progress—to cancer research and programs. This is likely why you’ll find so many captivating photos of the faces participating in this annual ride, which happens this year on Saturday, May 10. The South Charlotte ride, named for its desire to do good, features four routes ranging from the 3-mile “Family Spin” to the 65-mile “Big Enchilada.” It was Charlotte’s famed 24 Hours of Booty (www.24hoursofbooty.org) to raise funds for the fight against cancer that initially inspired Hernandez and so appropriately, the proceeds from this event go to that one. Prefer sipping to cycling? Triple C Brewing Co. is providing food, games, and craft beer for the event’s participants and fans. For details and to register, visit www.thegoodride.org.
