Cruise in to travel expos, boat show

It's the time of year when travel expos tout the latest trends and destinations. Here's what's going on in Charlotte:
CruiseMasters annual Cruise & Tour Show at Carolina Place Mall, noon-6 p.m. today, in front of the CruiseMasters office. Admission: free. All major cruise lines along with the major European river-cruise firms will have exhibits. There will be exclusive cruise offers. Early-booking discounts and amenities will be available.
Mann Travels' 2011 Travel Show will be 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 30 (a Sunday) on the second floor of the Charlotte Convention Center, 501 S. College St. (College at Stonewall streets). Admission is free. There will be representatives from 30 travel companies, including cruise lines, tour companies and tourism boards. There will be gifts and discounts for day-of-show bookings.
Seminars will be offered. Theater 1: Travel to Ireland (11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.), Azamara Cruises (12:15 p.m.), Uniworld (1 p.m.) and Cruising to Switzerland (1:45 p.m.). Theater 2: Celebrity Cruises (11:45 a.m.), Villa experience with American Express Vacations (12:30 p.m.), photo tips from Wolf Camera & Image (1:15 p.m.), all-inclusive vacations with USAirways Vacations (2 p.m.) and Cabo (2:45 p.m.). Theater 3: Photo tips from Wolf Camera & Image (noon), Holland America (12:45 p.m.), destination weddings (1:30 p.m.), Regent Seven Seas (2:15 p.m.) and river cruises (3 p.m.). Theater 4: Packing demonstration from Sharon Luggage (11:30 a.m.) and basics of first-time cruising (12:15 p.m.).

Mid-Atlantic Boat Show, Feb. 17-20 at the Charlotte Convention Center. More than 50 brands and more than 30 boats will be displayed by 15 area dealers. Hours: noon-9 p.m. Feb. 17-18 (Thursday-Friday), 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Feb. 19; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 20. Admission: $8; $7 for 60 and older, $5 for ages 6-12; 5 and younger, free.
