Three exhibits at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum explore the reasons people travel to the mountains.

The exhibits – “Elliott Daingerfield: Art and Life in North Carolina,” “The Blowing Rock: A Natural Draw,” and “Historic Hotels of Blowing Rock: Mayview Manor and the Green Park Inn” – are on view through March 30.

The main exhibit features paintings by Elliott Daingerfield, who spent 46 summers in Blowing Rock. The exhibit includes works from the museum’s collection and private collectors.

The museum will open two new exhibits in April, “Curious Collections of the Carolinas” and “Commemorating the Civil War in Western North Carolina.”

The museum will also offer programs through the spring and summer, including a monthly third Thursday speaker series, featuring talks by artists and collectors, concerts and children’s events.

The museum opened in October and is located in downtown Blowing Rock and promotes visual arts, history and heritage of the Western North Carolina mountains.
