The North Carolina Division of Tourism has released an updated and revamped “The Official 2013 North Carolina Travel Guide.”

The 168-page magazine is available for free at all nine interstate information centers. It can also be ordered online at www.visitNC.com/guide or by calling 800-847-4862.

The guide features information on subjects ranging from outdoor recreation to food, music, resorts and the Civil War. It notes attractions and accommodations plus travel resources in every county.

The print version directs readers to online extras; the online edition links directly to videos and related content.

Two covers are available for the guide. One shows mountain kayaking (Nantahala Gorge is the site of the 2013 International Canoe Federation’s World Freestyle Kayaking Championships); one depicts Asheville’s Grove Park Inn (celebrating its 100th anniversary).

The digital edition, distributed through Google Currents, Issuu and Scribd social magazine apps, includes a photo slideshow and videos about Asheville’s Shindig on the Green, zip-lining and hang gliding.

The digital edition is available for Android and iOS.

All editions include 2-D “quick response” (QR) barcodes that scanner-equipped cell phones can read to access more information.

As part of the guide roll-out, VisitNC.com is offering a chance to win a “High Altitude” trip to Asheville and Bryson City with a Travel Guide Sweepstakes that runs through Jan. 31.
