And down goes regular.

Gas prices in the Charlotte area was found for under $2 Thursday afternoon - $1.99 to be exact - although you have to cross the state line to cash in.

Circle K in Fort Mill on 160 (exit 85) dropped under the $2 mark this morning and while the station experienced a little bump at the lunchtime rush, business has been normal today despite the eye-opening number for regular 87-grade gas. The station, officially located at 1766 HWY 160 W, just received a shipment of gas and the pumps are freely open.

Around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, there were no lines and very few cars.

Other nearby stations on 160 were close to the $2 mark this afternoon with Gate at $2.03 and BP at $2.09.

According to northcarolinagasprices.com, the cheapest gas in the area is $2.15 at the Exxon on U.S. 49 in Steele Creek (near 160).
