The season's final Charlotte Symphony Summer Pops concert on Friday night was a record breaker. “It was the largest crowd we've ever seen,” spokeswoman Meg Whalen said. The group collected more than $40,000 in donations, more than all of the 2008 season. Almost $150,000 was donated this season to the financially strapped orchestra. People also enjoyed music and fireworks on the front lawn of the Lowe's YMCA in Mooresville and at Rock Hill's Red, White & Boom celebration at the Old Town Amphitheater.
